Auto Body Collision

Instructor: John Mack

Students in Automotive Collision Technology will develop the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level employment in the automotive repair industry and its many related fields.

  • Because each damaged vehicle presents a different problem, repairers must have a broad knowledge of automobile construction and repair techniques including welding.

  • Learning experiences will be provided as students work on vehicles with modern tools that are used in the auto body trade.

  • Students will be able to try various operations of the auto collision trade including dent repair, brazing, MIG welding, replacement of parts, and minor uni-body repair to single-stage acrylic urethane refinishing and base coat clear coat refinishing ranging from spot repair to panel refinishing.

  • Professional attitudes will be developed through the Skills USA program and activities.

Auto Collision Technology provides students with a diverse education of the structure of a vehicle and the proper repair processes. Students will learn personal protections safety and the proper use of numerous tools, equipment and materials for properly making a repair.   Students also have access to a state of the art virtual paint sprayer and welder.  Many students also take advantage of the COOP program their senior year allowing them to work in the field while still earning high school credit.

While in Auto Body, students will learn business management and customer satisfaction procedures to insure repeat business. These learned skills provide students opportunities in numerous entry level job openings upon entering the workforce or would prepare students to succeed in post-secondary training.  College credit is also available for students who are looking to go to school after graduation and scholarship opportunities are available through both SkillsUSA and FBLA.
