This program provides students with a strong foundation in early childhood education, preparing them to work in daycare centers, preschools, or as childcare providers. It equips them with the knowledge and skills needed to create a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children, ensuring their overall well-being and growth.

Studies are wide ranging in our preparation of students and include:

  1. Child Development Fundamentals:

    • Students will learn the basics of child development, including physical, cognitive, social, and emotional milestones in early childhood.

    • Understanding the stages of growth and development from infancy to preschool age.

    • Identifying and addressing common developmental challenges and delays in young children.

  2. Curriculum Planning:

    • Creating developmentally appropriate lesson plans for young children, taking into consideration their age and individual needs.

    • Incorporating play-based learning, hands-on activities, and creative approaches to engage and stimulate young minds.

    • Understanding the importance of language and literacy development in early childhood.

  3. Classroom Management and Behavior Guidance:

    • Techniques for managing a classroom of young children, including setting up routines, rules, and expectations.

    • Strategies for positive behavior guidance and conflict resolution in a developmentally sensitive manner.

    • Recognizing and addressing common behavioral challenges in early childhood.

  4. Health and Safety in Early Childhood Settings:

    • Ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for young children, including childproofing measures and emergency procedures.

    • Promoting hygiene and nutrition practices that are suitable for early childhood settings.

    • Understanding and implementing health and safety regulations and protocols in daycare and preschool settings.

  5. Observation and Assessment:

    • Techniques for observing and assessing the development and progress of young children.

    • Recording and documenting observations to inform parents and caregivers about a child's growth and development.

    • Using assessment tools and techniques to support early intervention and individualized learning plans.
