The Electronics Technology course of study provides students with learning experiences in analog and digital electronic design and equipment, computer/network hardware technology, residential wiring, and network cabling. Instruction also includes analysis and construction of A.C. and D.C. circuits and some troubleshooting and repair.

  • Students are given the opportunity to learn electronics and numerous computer technologies through the use of a modern laboratory which utilizes the latest electronic simulation software, computer aided instruction, and laboratory equipment. The Electronics class is also an authorized OSHA training program for General Industry where students can earn two authorized training program cards from OSHA.

  • Graduates in Electronics will be prepared to pursue two- or four-year college technical degrees such as technician/engineering, computers or electrical technology trades. Electronics graduates may also qualify for advanced placement in associate and bachelor degree programs. Before graduation students will take NOCTI (PA Skills) certified tests in Electronics Technology, Computer Repair Technology, and Computer Networking Fundamentals. Upon passing these tests, the student will receive his/hers certification in those areas.

Electronics Technology

The Electronics/Digital Technology program provides students with learning experiences in analog and digital electronic design and equipment, programming micro-controllers, writing ladder logic programs and setting up programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), communications, cabling, 3 phase motor control and residential wiring.

Instruction includes analysis and construction of hundreds of A.C./D.C. and Digital circuits including troubleshooting and repair.

Students are given the opportunity to learn electronics and numerous computer related technologies through the use of a modern laboratory which utilizes the latest electronic simulation, design and programming software.

The Electronics course also offers dual-enrollment with Pennsylvania College of Technology. Students may opt to take up to 8 college credits in: Introduction to Engineering (EET124) and/or Electronic Circuits and Devices 1 (EET116).

Completers in Electronics will be prepared to pursue two and four Year College / technical degrees such as technician/engineering, industrial or electrical technology trades, etc. Electronics graduates may also qualify for advanced placement in Associate and Bachelor degree programs.  Scholarships are available through SkillsUSA.

Completers will also take a number of Certification exams: Electronics Technician Association (ETA) – Student Electronics Technician certification, International Society of Electronics Technicians (ISCET) – Associate Certified Electronic Technician cert., and the National Occupational Competency Testing Inst. – PA Skills Certificate. Upon passing these exams the student will have earned these college level education certifications.
