Computer Technology/Information Technology

The Computer Technology/Computer Systems Technology course is designed to have students complete a series of certifications in CompTIA A+Essentials, CompTIA A+ Practical Application, Network+ Security+, Server+, and Linux.

  • The Year I program of study covers both CompTIA + certs with a focus on personal computer components, laptop and portable devices, operating systems, networks, security, safety, and communication.

  • Year II is designed for students to earn their Network+ cert with a focus on media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation, and support. 

  • After the above three certs are obtained, the student has the options of Security+ which covers general security concepts, communication, infrastructure, basics of cryptography, and operational/organization security. 

  • Year III provides opportunities to master Server+ focusing on hardware knowledge, installation, configuration, upgrading, proactive maintenance environment, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery. 

  • The sixth cert, Linux, covers installation, management, configuration, security, documentation, and hardware.

  • Students will be prepared to enter the job market as a systems support technician or can enter a post-secondary field with earned college credit upon entrance.

  • Students will also have the opportunity to compete in SkillsUSA competitions for district, regional, and state awards.

Information Technology (IT) isn't just a fun class that involves computer, you will be building knowledge on all kinds of subjects within the field of Information Technology.

The IT field has a lot of different paths along the way, there is a multitude of ways to put your knowledge to the test and good use. There is something for everyone interested in the IT career field.

The Information Technology class is also a good class to get industry certifications that will help you in getting into jobs, colleges and tech schools. And student may earn college credit through program. 

Information Technology participates in SkillsUSA and FBLA.  These clubs can be an opportunity to get scholarships and money towards other advanced schooling.

So, if you have any interest in computers, networking, cyber security, fixing and building PC’s and programming then Informational Technology is going to be the class you want to take.
