S.O.A.R. stands for Safety Ownership Always Respect and is the motto for our School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) system at Youngsville Elementary School

What is SWPBIS?

• An evidenced-based, systems approach for creating and maintaining a school culture that supports the learning of all students and ensures they have the social and emotional skills needed for success

• Creates consistent expectations across school settings and explicitly teaches those expectations to all students

• Applies data-based decision making to discipline, academics, and social/emotional learning

• Uses a three-tiered approach:

  • Tier 1: Universal interventions (all students)

  • Tier 2: Interventions for students exhibiting at-risk behaviors

  • Tier 3: Interventions for students who need specialized assistance
