Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Dates & Times
The Warren County School District is again offering the federally funded Summer Food Service Program this summer. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the program provides free meals and snacks to all children 18 years of age and younger at approved sites across Warren County. No registration or income requirements are necessary.
Sites include:– Beaty Warren Middle School, breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday from June 9 through Aug. 8. Breakfast hours are 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. with lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
– Warren Area Elementary Center, bagged breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday from June 9 through Aug. 8. Breakfast is from 8 to 8:30 a.m. with lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
– Lacy Park & Playground, bagged lunch only, Monday through Friday from June 16 through Aug. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
– Crescent Park, bagged lunch only, Monday through Friday from June 16 through Aug. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
– Sheffield Township Park, bagged lunch only, Monday through Friday from June 16 through Aug. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
All sites will be closed from June 30 through July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday.
Children are encouraged to arrive early at playground sites to help staff order the appropriate number of meals. All meals must be eaten on-site, and menus will be available online at www.wcsdpa.org under the “Summer Food Service Program” tab.. The district will announce any changes to dates, times, or sites via signage, its website, mobile app, and the Warren County School District Facebook page.
The program is a collaboration between the Warren County School District, city of Warren and Sheffield Township. Organizations offering summer programming and interested in becoming a Summer Food Service Program site can call Jones at 814-723-6900 or email jonesm@wcsdpa.org.
Due to the holiday, there will be no Summer Food Service Program meals offered at any of our 2025 locations from June 30th through July 4th. Meal service will resume on Monday, July 7th.
Our partner at the Sheffield Memorial Park has informed us that they will be closed today, Tuesday, June 24th, due to the continuing hot weather. Summer Food Service meals will be available at Beaty Warren Middle School as scheduled.
The Park expects to be open for the remainder of this week.

Mother Nature is sure giving us a run for our money and making us work for our Track and Field Water week. With most of our scheduled times expecting cold and rainy weather again, we are going to push our activities back to June 2nd - 4th!
We are going to cross all our Little Dragon fingers and toes that next week’s weather stays as nice as it’s calling for.

This Week’s Math Moment: Fractions with Dominoes! 🎲➗
Dominoes aren’t just for games—they’re perfect for exploring fractions in a way that’s hands-on and visual! Use the dots on each domino to build, compare, and simplify fractions in a fun and stress-free way.
This activity can grow with your child:

2025 SUN Bucks Program Information
The Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT), or SUN Bucks Program, was authorized by Congress in 2022. The program, through participating agencies, provides $40 per summer month per child to families with eligible school-age children to buy groceries. The Pennsylvania Departments of Human Services (DHS) and Education (PDE) are jointly responsible for overseeing the SUN Bucks program in Pennsylvania, under the guidance of the USDA.
Each household will receive a $120 SUN Bucks benefit per eligible child, equivalent to $40 per month for June-August. SUN Bucks benefits are issued at the household level. DHS follows a hierarchy of where benefits are issued: the family’s state EBT card (ACCESS) if available, otherwise the family’s previously-issued SUN Bucks EBT card if available, otherwise a new SUN Bucks EBT card.
Most families will not need to apply for 2025 SUN Bucks since the bulk of eligible students are captured automatically by 1) being eligible for free/reduced meals at NSLP/SBP schools, or 2) if they didn’t attend an NSLP/SBP school, by being on the state’s direct-certified list and of compulsory school age.
Families with questions about whether their child is automatically eligible or if they need to apply should use the Eligibility Navigator tool on the DHS website. The self-guided series of questions tells the family if a child is automatically eligible, not eligible, or if they should apply for SUN Bucks. Weekly Math Fun: Measurement Mix! 📏🔍
This week, turn simple household items into math tools with a fun, hands-on activity that explores length, comparison, and units of measure! Whether your child is using crayons or measuring tape, they’ll build important math concepts through active exploration.
Extend the Learning:
🧮 Estimation Practice – Before measuring, ask your child to guess how many objects long the line will be. Were they close? What might affect their estimate?
🔄 Try New Objects – Switch it up by using different non-standard units: LEGO bricks, spoons, toy cars—anything that fits the line!
📊 Record & Compare – Create a chart with the name of each object and how many it took to measure the line. Which item gave the most accurate result?
💬 Ask Thinking Questions –
•“Why might your measurement change if you use different objects?”
•“When might it be important to use a ruler instead of other items?”
This activity builds number sense and introduces key concepts in estimation, measurement, and precision—all with tools you already have at home.

hello WAEC families! A letter is coming home regarding Track & Field water week next week! This week is so fun for students and staff and we look so forward to it each year!
Please please please send your child with a labeled water bottle as it is so important for our students to stay hydrated as they are very active during these two hours.
We will continually be monitoring the weather forecast & if a day will be rescheduled, you will be notified as soon as we decide but are hopeful that we don't need to.
Please see the schedule for our grades to best prepare for your student to come ((i.e. school appropriate clothes that will get wet, appropriate shoes for getting wet (try to avoid sneakers,) a towel & a change of clothes)) & participate in the activities:

Math Learning in the Kitchen:
🍴 Practice Equivalent Fractions – Use different measuring cups to build one whole.
🧠 Build Number Sense – Talk through what it means to double or halve a recipe.
🥣 Compare Quantities – Ask questions like, “Which ingredient do we use the most of?” or “How much more salt than cream of tartar?”
