Stay Safe: The Danger Zone - Can your child see the driver? More importantly — can the driver see them?

The “Danger Zone” is the 10-foot area around the bus where it’s hardest for drivers to see students. Teach children to:
• Stay 10 steps away from the bus
• Make eye contact with the driver before crossing
• Never walk behind the bus

Our drivers are always watching carefully, but safety is a team effort. Let’s make sure every child is seen and safe!

Ride Right: Safety Inside the Bus - What’s the safest way to ride the bus? Sit right, ride right!

Once aboard, students play a big part in keeping the ride safe for everyone.
Remind them to:
• Stay in their seat, facing forward
• Use quiet voices so the driver can concentrate
• Keep backpacks on their lap or under their seat
• Avoid shouting or horseplay

The U.S. Department of Transportation reports that school buses are the safest way to get to and from school — let’s keep it that way!

🚌 October is Bus Safety Month!

Each week, we’ll spotlight an important part of keeping our students safe as they travel nearly 1.8 million miles each year across 792 square miles of Warren County. Safety is always our #1 priority!

🛑 Safety Starts at the Stop - Did you know bus safety begins before students even step on board?

Arriving early and staying alert at the bus stop helps everyone start the day safely!

Here are a few simple reminders for families to review together:
• Arrive at the bus stop 10 minutes early
• Stand back from the curb while waiting
• Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching
• Never push or run at the bus stop

Remind children that the driver needs to see them at all times. With nearly 10,000 miles traveled each school day, every safe stop matters!

Unfortunately, the Warren County School District must cancel the Middle Level (Grades 6–8) 21st Century Program this year because of low student enrollment.
We appreciate your understanding.

Warren Area High School will be conducting a bi-annual "Secure"/"Lockout" Drill tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. This drill practices important safety procedures and will not affect operations inside of the building. No students will be permitted to sign-out or sign-in to the building and visitors will not be able to enter during this drill. Thank you for your understanding as we practice safety drills on campus.

Warren Area High School is proud to nominate Aydin Anthony for the Northwest PA CLASS Act Emerging Leader Award. Aydin is an outstanding student whose academic and extracurricular achievements make him a model representative of our school and community.

In the classroom, Aydin challenges himself with AP, Honors, and Dual Enrollment courses while maintaining academic excellence. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society and has earned our school's Academic Letter multiple years. Beyond academics, Aydin is deeply involved in the arts, participating in both band and orchestra and contributing his talents to the Yearbook staff. Aydin is a reliable and trusted resource for staff and students alike. He regularly provides photography and video content for the school website, in-building presentations, weekly student news broadcasts, and SWPBIS training videos (An example of a video he created can be seen here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uhaonZRHbo

His creativity and technical skill extend far beyond the classroom - Aydin serves as the lighting designer for major school events, including the All-County Musical, assemblies, graduation, concerts, and school recognition ceremonies. His professional experience is equally impressive. Aydin is employed by the historic Struthers Library Theatre as the in-house lighting designer. In this role, he produces show lighting for nationally recognized artists in the "Celebrity Series", Warren Players musicals and theatre productions, and the SLT Academy shows, which train young students in all aspects of theatre. His dedication is evident in the 250+ volunteer hours he has contributed to community productions and video editing projects. Aydin has also embraced a mentoring role, guiding younger students in lighting design and theatre production. He actively shares his knowledge, encourages their growth, and connects them with resources to pursue their own interests. This commitment to lifting others up is what makes him not only a leader but also an inspiration to his peers.

Looking ahead, Aydin plans to attend Point Park University to major in Theatrical Design, Management, and Production. His long-term goal is to become a commercial lighting designer for Broadway or touring theatre and music productions. With his talent, drive, and leadership, there is no doubt that he will continue to shine brightly in the years to come.

As we begin another season of athletics in the Warren County School District, we remind all spectators to act appropriately and respectfully at our events. Respect the Game. Abuse of coaches, officials, or players will NOT be tolerated. PIAA reminds us: “Actions meant to demean opponents, spectators, or officials are not in the highest ideals of education.” Let’s show respect and support our student athletes in the right way!
