REMINDER...

Pennsylvania schools must ensure compliance with mandated health services. These include:

Physical Examinations: Required for Kindergarten, 6th and 11th grades.
Dental Examinations: Required for 1st, 3rd and 7th grades.
If your student is currently in one of the grades listed above, please confirm that all health records are updated with your student's school nurse. Documentation of these exams and screenings is crucial for compliance with the PA Department of Health. If the documentation is not on file with the school nurse, your child will be seen by the provider when they are at the schools.

February has been filled with achievement, innovation, and compassion across our schools. Students earned recognition in academic competitions, showcased their talents at the regional and state levels, and were honored for their leadership and accomplishments both inside and outside the classroom.

Hands-on learning continued to thrive as students explored science and engineering concepts through engaging, real-world activities. From elementary classrooms to our secondary programs, learners applied critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in meaningful ways.

Our schools also focused on wellness, kindness, and positive school culture through a variety of PBIS celebrations, special events, and student rewards. These activities helped strengthen school spirit and highlighted the importance of making positive choices each day.

Beyond academics, students represented our district in athletic competitions and community-based programs, while others demonstrated generosity and care by organizing fundraisers to support one of our own. The compassion shown throughout the district truly reflects the strength of our school community.

We’re also proud of our staff members who continue to pursue professional growth and of the ongoing efforts to support advanced learning opportunities for our students.

Be sure to check out the attached document for highlights from each of our schools. We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, families, and community partners for making February another outstanding month across our district!

WCSD Open Positions Week of January 29th.

January has been an exciting and meaningful month across our schools, filled with learning, celebration, and community connection. Students showcased their skills and determination through events such as a math competition and school spelling bees, while others were recognized for their achievements as Students of the Month. Classrooms were buzzing with engagement as students used hands-on manipulatives in math and participated in enriching learning experiences.

Our schools also embraced the season with holiday concerts featuring choir, band, and orchestra performances, along with school spirit activities, classroom celebrations, holiday festivities, and a winter carnival that brought joy to students and staff alike. Beyond the classroom, students gained valuable insight into the real world as a local company visited to speak about entrepreneurship, and Career Center students participated in impactful experiences—from hands-on construction work at a local business, to continuing education with UPMC EMS Outreach, to leading a Santa Tree program that provided gifts to families in need.

In addition, students demonstrated leadership and service by participating in an All-County HEAL Club community event, and we proudly celebrated one of our educators who was selected as a Golden Apple Award winner. These moments reflect the hard work, creativity, and compassion that define our school community.

Be sure to check out the attached document for highlights from each of our schools. We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and families for making January such a positive start to the new year!
