It has come to our attention that a student in the district has a confirmed case of pertussis (whooping cough).
Pertussis is a highly contagious disease that is spread through the air when an infected person sneezes or coughs. Pertussis begins with cold symptoms and a cough which becomes much worse over 1-2 weeks. Symptoms usually include a long series of coughs (“coughing fits”) followed by a whooping noise. The cough is often worse at night and cough medicines usually do not help alleviate the cough.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health strongly recommends anyone with symptoms promptly contact your child’s doctor. Please refer to the link provided on our website for more information on pertussis.

School News has opened a clothing store with Eagle Gear available for purchase.
The store offers 3 designs, 3 colors, and Mutiple items to choose from.
This store is not for profit, so all items are being sold at cost.
The store is open until 2/23... Items will be ready in early March.

This past weekend, 4 members of the YMHS band competed in the PMEA District band. Zerick Jackman placed 4th in the Tuba, Michael Carnahan placed 6th in the trumpet, Caitlyn Pikna placed 6th in the clarinet and Sarah Blauser placed 11th in the flute, missing advancement placing by 3 spots. Zerick, Michael, and Caitlyn will move on to Region Band in March. Congratulations and great job to all for your performances!
This Thursday we will be holding Yearbook Photos for all High School Clubs, Senior Class Photo, and Career Center Photos. All students are asked to attend!
