Our first District Enrichment Day on September 18 was a resounding success! Students engaged in logic-based board games, tackled riddles, and cracked codes to unlock the Breakout EDU puzzle. They showcased their knowledge in a quiz bowl featuring challenging questions across science, math, English language arts, and history. Next week, they will be diving into project-based activities focusing on math, history, science, and writing.

YMHS Class of 2025 Parents/Guardians- Being a senior brings many exciting and unique offerings. The YMHS Yearbook Staff would like to take this opportunity to share important yearbook information with you. SENIOR PICTURES: Pictures must be submitted by November 1st! Traditionally, parents have a photographer of their choice take senior portraits of their child. We love to have parents and seniors choose their favorite senior picture to be showcased in the yearbook. We require that the yearbook photo be headshot only (no props, no hats, forward facing). We plan to include 2 photos of each senior. So please provide one headshot and a second of your choice (can include props, does not have to be headshot only). All photos must be school appropriate. Your senior photo will be used for the yearbook, yard sign, and senior showcase on Facebook. If pictures are not submitted on time, we cannot guarantee they will be used in the yearbook. If students do not submit a photo and do not participate in school picture day or picture make-up day… then that student will not be included in the yearbook. Senior portraits should be submitted digitally; parents, students, or photographers can provide these via email to Mrs. Shannon Linkerhof at linkerhofsm@wcsdpa.org Two other YHS Yearbook traditions include senior baby photos as well as sibling photos. These photos are also due by November 1st!

In 2023-24 the Office of Pupil Services (OPS) used the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency (PCCD) WCCC grant to provide WCCC students with access to a full-time drug and alcohol counselor. The OPS continued the drug & alcohol prevention counseling services to students in all schools for the 2024-2025 school year through another PCCD grant. In effort to continue offering vital drug and alcohol prevention services to our students, in February 2024 the OPS also arranged for a speaker to share his story. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for your children. Through this upcoming presentation students will have access to educational resources and activities designed to raise awareness about the risk of substance abuse. Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills with health making decisions. We are pleased to announce that on September 18, 2024, 6-7:30p.m. Warren Area High School auditorium the district is sponsoring a special presentation for parents, guardians, and community members featuring Stephen Hill, a renowned national speaker on mental health promotion and substance use prevention with a truly inspiring comeback story that everyone must hear. Stephen is the founder of Speak Sobriety, a young person in recovery, bestselling author, recovery coach, and a defense attorney. He has presented in front of thousands of people for over 750 schools and coalitions across the country, sharing his cautionary tale of addiction to recovery and beyond. Through sharing his lived experience, Stephen inspires people to lead healthy, substance free lives by demonstrating the importance of mindfully building a life worth defending. His powerful message will leave our community better educated on mental health and substance use, providing practical tools and coping skills to navigate challenges, and fostering a deeper understanding of the ripple effect—how our actions influence and impact the well-being of others. Stephen will also be speaking with some of our students on September 18, 2024 during the school day. • Session I: 9-10:15a.m. Warren Area High School & Sheffield Area Middle High School students, grades 9-12 • Session II: 1-2:15p.m. Eisenhower Middle and Senior High Schools & Youngsville Middle/High School, grades 9-12 This is a unique opportunity for parents and guardians to use Stephen’s story as a platform to engage in meaningful conversations on substance use prevention and mental health with their children. This September 18, 2024 6 p.m. community event is free and open to the public. We look forward to seeing you there! Link to Stephen’s biography http://speaksobriety.com/about

RE-Enrollment for current students
Important 21st Century After School Update for the 2024-25 School Year Unfortunately, the elementary (K-5) 21st Century after-school program will not be available this year. We are actively exploring alternative funding options, but it's unlikely that any new solutions will be ready in time for the start of the school year. Please stay tuned to the school district website and our social media channels for any updates. On a positive note, we are thrilled to announce that the middle school after-school program, "SPARK," will continue for students in grades 6-8. This year, SPARK is getting a fresh new look based on valuable feedback from students and parents. The updated program will include more student-choice activities, offering a safe, fun space where students can unwind, explore their interests, and get support with homework and projects. Be on the lookout for flyers and registration forms, which will be sent out before school starts or use the registration link below to access the online form. https://forms.office.com/r/5uhf6ek45V
