District Positive Happenings for the month of April
April has been a month filled with growth, creativity, and accomplishment across our schools. Students have continued to excel in academics, the arts, and athletics, earning recognition and demonstrating dedication, perseverance, and school pride.
Classrooms have been alive with hands-on learning and collaboration, as students engaged in meaningful experiences across a variety of subjects. From STEM and the arts to literacy and real-world applications, learners have been actively exploring, creating, and problem-solving in ways that bring their learning to life.
Our schools also embraced opportunities to build community and celebrate positive school culture. Through PBIS initiatives, special events, and collaborative activities, students strengthened connections with peers, staff, and community partners while being recognized for their positive contributions.
Beyond the classroom, students represented our district through performances, competitions, and athletic events, while others gained valuable real-world experience through career-focused programs and partnerships. These opportunities continue to prepare our students for success both in and beyond school.
We are also proud of the continued growth of our programs and the dedication of our staff in creating engaging, supportive learning environments that meet the diverse needs of all students.

This celebration highlights innovative experiences and opportunities for youth to develop their sense of creativity, perseverance and curiosity.

Students will embark on an exciting, hands-on adventure to discover how energy makes things move, light up, and work! Through interactive learning stations designed for curiosity and experimentation, participants will explore different forms of power. Learners will experiment with different energy sources, compare how power choices impact outcomes, build and test simple systems, and collaborate to solve problems. This engaging event helps students understand how energy is generated, transferred, and used in everyday systems.

Warren Area High School proudly nominates Kayle Bell for the IUS Class Act Emerging Leader Recognition.
Transitions can often be challenging, but Kayle approached her move from Sheffield to Warren with remarkable poise, positivity, and resilience. She quickly became a valued and active member of our school community. Throughout her high school career, Kayle has demonstrated exceptional involvement across a wide range of activities, including track, cheerleading, golf, and serving as a volleyball statistician. In each role, she has consistently displayed versatility, dedication, and strong leadership. More importantly, it is the enthusiasm, positivity, and leadership she brings to every experience that truly sets her apart. As an active member of Student Council and SADD, Kayle leads with empathy, integrity, and a genuine commitment to making a difference.
Beyond the classroom, Kayle's dedication to service is equally impressive. Her involvement in church choir and confirmation classes reflects a deep commitment to her faith and community. When asked about her interests outside of school, Kayle immediately identified volunteering, an answer that speaks volumes about her character and her desire to support and uplift others.
Kayle plans to major in Business and Human Resource Management at St. Bonaventure University, a path that aligns seamlessly with her strengths and interests. Over the past two years, she has participated in the Warren County Career Center's Marketing program, where she has developed a strong understanding of communication, collaboration, and interpersonal relationships, all skills that will serve her well in the field of human resource management.
In every sense, Kayle Bell exemplifies the qualities of a Class Act Emerging Leader. Her commitment to service, her leadership within the school community, and her strong character make her an outstanding candidate for this recognition. I am confident that she will continue to make a meaningful and lasting impact at St. Bonaventure and in all her future endeavors.

Kindergarten Roundup: Each elementary school will host a Kindergarten Roundup session so interested parents can meet with various people to learn more about kindergarten and complete helpful screenings. Please see the flyer below for more information: Informational Flyer.

Title II and Title IV Grants

21st Century Summer Program registration is now open! Students entering Grades K–5 for the 2026–2027 school year are eligible to attend. The program will be held from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Warren Area Elementary Center during the weeks of June 15–26 and July 6–17. Transportation is provided, and all students will receive free breakfast and lunch. Daily activities include STEM, wellness, academics, and environmental literacy.

The Warren County School District (WCSD) has begun planning for its 2026 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sites to help kids get the nutrition they need when school meals aren't available. Any organization in the area that also offers summer programming for children is welcome to ask questions about being a partner. Click the link below for more information

Research Study Invitation for Parents and Guardians
Parents and guardians in our school district are invited to participate in a doctoral dissertation research study by Mr. Joshua Layton, a teacher at Youngsville Elementary Middle School and Doctoral Candidate at Slippery Rock University, examining parent involvement in children's education.
The purpose of this study is to better understand how families engage with their child’s education and how schools can strengthen partnerships with parents to support student learning. Participation involves completing a short online survey that takes about 30 minutes.
Participation is completely voluntary
Responses are anonymous and confidential
No identifying information will be collected
Your perspectives are valuable and will help contribute to research that may improve communication and collaboration between schools and families.

The PFE Policy outlines how schools and families will work together to support the education of children. Your input will also help us revise our Parent and Family Engagement Policy for the 2026-2027 school year.

Isaac has been a leader among his classmates and has proven in his academic and extracurricular endeavors that he is worthy of being a C.L.A.S.S. Act Nominee and future leader. Academically, Isaac stands out from his peers and performs at the top of his class. But what makes him stand out, is not just the grades on paper, but the attitude and determination behind those grades. Mrs. Dailey, his AP Biology teacher, says that “Isaac is an exceptional student with a genuine desire to develop a deep understanding of the material he studies. He doesn’t simply aim to learn the content; he strives to grasp the underlying principles and how they connect to broader concepts.”
Not only does Isaac excel in the classroom, he also has participated in a wide variety of sports and activities during his high school career. Whether on the soccer field, track, basketball court, or football field, Isaac demonstrates leadership and teamwork. Outside of school, Isaac is a dedicated Boy Scout. In fact, of all the activities that he has been involved in during high school, Isaac identifies Boy Scouts as the one that has been most meaningful and transformative on his life, learning valuable life skills through his years of scouting and giving back to his community and the next generation of scouts through a variety of projects and events. In January of 2026, Isaac earned his Eagle Scout badge—a further testament to his dedication, character and leadership. As part of his Eagle Scout project, he helped revitalize the local Rotary Park in Sheffield, PA. This project included painting the stairs, tables, pavilion and grills along with laying a new gravel base under the pavilion.
Isaac’s future goals are to enter the medical field to study anesthesiology. This is yet another example of his character and compassion towards others. According to Mrs. Dailey, “Isaac is also kind and generous with his time, frequently helping his classmates gain a clearer understanding of challenging topics. The world truly needs more doctors like Isaac, those who combine exceptional intelligence with empathy and integrity.” Isaac Hammerbeck is a remarkable young man whose potential is as vast as his kindness is deep. He exemplifies the purpose and goals of the IU5 C.L.A.S.S. Act Emerging Leader program and is an excellent representative of Warren Area High School.

Age requirement:
Children must be five years old on or before July 1.
WCSD does not permit early admission to kindergarten.

Child’s state-issued birth certificate
Parent/guardian proof of residency (child’s primary residence), such as a utility bill, tax bill, mortgage bill, driver’s license, or state-issued ID card
Child’s immunization record
